RAM3D & Bastion Cycles team up to co-sponsor innovation
A group of innovative students from Macquarie Unitversity (MQ Speed Team) compete with numerous worldwide universities to beat the Human Powered Land Speed Record of 139 km/h.
Another exciting project we have been involved in with Bastion Cycles was our co-sponsorship of the MQ Speed Team. They are a diverse group of students from Macquarie University, Sydney, NSW, Australia, from the Faculty of Science and Engineering, who have designed and built a human powered bike using Carbon fibre tubes and 3D printed titanium joints.
Their challenge was to beat the Human Powered Land Speed Record of 139 km/h competing with numerous worldwide universities. This event took place in October 2017 at Battle Mountain Nevada, north of Las Vegas. Unfortunately, their best speed was 89.75km/h but they certainly made a great impression in their first year of competition. It is great to see such innovation and enthusiasm in these young engineers.
